Library cards will expire if not used for more than a year. MCPL wants to be sure that your contact information is up-to-date and that any fines or fees are paid. If your card expires, you will not be able to check out materials, place holds, use the databases or renew items you have checked out beyond the card’s expiration date. You can also renew by phone by calling either Ask-a-librarian at or your local library. If you pay online, please wait a day or two to renew your account, because we must manually post your credit card payment to your library account. At the Vancouver Writers Fest we encourage readers of all ages to explore the reading series in partnership with Vancouver Public Library; Youth Education.
The list required librarians and analysts spend more than six months looking up every title in its catalogue to see how many times each one had been borrowed. Circulation data, best-seller lists, archives and awards were all crunched to help determine its Top 10 list. But first, a few notes. Because the VPL only started being able to track circulation numbers by title beginning in , the list they provided only covers borrowing that took place in the past 16 years.
The original English language title has been checked out a total of 10, times in the past decade and a half. The childhood classic was first published in and stars a very hungry caterpillar who eats his way through an apple, two pears, three plums, four strawberries, five oranges, a lot of sweets and desserts before eating a green leaf, suffering a stomach ache and — finally!

Eight therapy dogs will be available to borrow from the Canine Library on Saturday for minute outings as part of the Vancouver’s Poetry in Parks initiative. The six-year-old border collie nuzzled her face, then settled down for the reading, his head resting on his crossed paws. Boekhoven, who is the volunteer co-ordinator for the therapy dog program at St. Candie Tanaka of the Vancouver Public Library said the event will give people an opportunity to sit with a dog and a handler and either read from provided material or bring their own.
The Vancouver Public Library holds a poetry program in the city’s parks every year, and this time they wanted to do something different, she said. Ashten Black of the therapy dog program at St. John Ambulance B. It’s a lot more fun to read to a dog, Black said, adding canine companions are very accepting of mistakes. John Ambulance also wanted to provide a chance for people living in Vancouver, especially those who may not have a dog or are new to the city or country, to spend time with a furry friend, she said.
She’s not sure what books the dogs prefer although that could be unique to every dog, she added with a laugh. He likes the short and the rhythm of the poetry. Search Search CP24 X. All returned items are quarantined for 72 hours before we take them off your account. After-hours book returns are available at all branches, and are open when the library is closed. Items returned after the library is closed are checked in the next day. Items that can’t fit through the book return or that can be easily damaged can be returned at the service desk.

Borrowing privileges are granted to those with West Vancouver Memorial Library cards. You may have up to 50 items checked out at any given time. Self check-out stations are located in the Main Hall and in the Youth Department. For staff assistance, please take your materials to the Account Services Desk. For adult materials, cardholders may request a six-week borrowing period on all items except new books, magazines, new and holiday dvds, and video tablets.
